Description

Good Afternoon up for sale is a 1968 Pontiac lemans sport convertible option code 247one of 166 built . This car was all but a GTO in name left the factory in 1968 with a 350 4 barrel TH 400 trans and a 336 posi rear end , The rally package that included bucket seats, console, his and hers Hurst ,rally gauges with in dash tach ,rally wheels, front and rear sway bars , close ratio steering box, rally hood ,Meridian blue, on black.it has had a restoration that's now about 3 years old appraised at 30,200 , 23,000 just in parts about 30,000 overall and all documented, all pieces and partswere replaced or rebuilt , runs and drives as good as it looks. the car currently has a 73 400 4 barrel installed rebuilt at the time of restoration .only upgrades are electronic ignition ,internal regulated alternator , disk brakes , am/fm cd player mounted in console, larger radiator. and a Yukon locker 3:55 ratio other than that stock. This is not a spray and pray all steel solidsuper nice driver I believe the mileage is 136900 I do have the matching # engine for the car . muscle car looks without the muscle car price. while the car is a clone it is a really nice one and easily returned to back to a Lemans Sport . this option code was so rare that every one I spoke with kept telling me it was a GTO .and I bought into that restoring as that . then I met the local Pontiac history buff and he help me decipher what it is Vin`s don't lie .247, on the option tag 2 Pontiac 4 HO rally 7 Lemans .. compared to 237 , 2 Pontiac 3 base 7 Lemans . or at least that's how its been explained to me NOT a 242 GTO . I've been told it doesn't really affect the value at the end of the day its a Lemans and is priced as such . now for the bad . the front bumper has some minor bubbles .. cars been sitting so the carb could use a tear down and cleaning . ( still starts right up and idles and go`s fine) has a slight tire vibration flat spotted I`m guessing. car hasn't really been driven a lot. and lastly the rear windows operate sloppy . no one makes reproduction rollers for the rear windows , or at least I haven't been able to find them . I guess overall its a really nice driver quality car that needs someone to drive it . why I`m selling I`m on my motorcycle every day and the car just sits .. now motorcycle is broke needs a new trans old soft tail with a 152 k on it now .. not worth fixing and the wife says no new payments for a bike so car`s got to go if I want a new one . feel free to ask me anything about the car I have more pictures available .. including day one when I put tires on it and rolled it out of the barn that it was in
